Xero
IntegrationReads P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, aged receivables/payables, and invoices straight from the books — exactly the reports an accountant asks for at tax time, without exporting each one by hand.
Get your books organized and your accountant a clean handoff packet — not a scramble of receipts in April.
Reads P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, aged receivables/payables, and invoices straight from the books — exactly the reports an accountant asks for at tax time, without exporting each one by hand.
Most small businesses don't run accounting software — they track income and expenses in a spreadsheet. This connector reads that same spreadsheet so the owner without Xero gets the same 'organize my numbers' workflow.
Turns raw numbers and the owner's notes ('this expense was the new laptop', 'this client still hasn't paid') into a structured handoff packet the accountant can actually use, instead of a wall of exported rows.
Drafts the note that goes with the handoff packet — what's included, what changed since last quarter, and what the accountant needs back from the owner, and by when.
## Who it is for Small-business owners and solo entrepreneurs who keep their own books (in Xero or a spreadsheet) and need to hand off clean numbers to an accountant or bookkeeper — at tax time, at quarter-end, or whenever the accountant asks "can you send me an updated P&L?". Use it when the recurring job is "get my numbers straight and send them over", not filing taxes yourself. ## What it helps you do This kit covers the run-up to the accountant, not the filing itself: - Read the real numbers — P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, unpaid invoices — from Xero, or from the spreadsheet where the books actually live. - Ask plain questions like *"what's still unpaid?"* or *"how much did we spend on software this quarter?"* instead of hunting through tabs or reports. - Turn the numbers plus context into an organized handoff packet with Doc Co-authoring: categorized summary, flagged items, open questions. - Draft the note that goes with it with Internal Comms — what's attached, what changed, what's needed back, and by when. The expected outcome is that the owner walks into tax season with an organized packet and a clear cover note instead of a folder of loose files and a vague "let me know if you need anything else" email. ## What's included ### Connectors - **Xero** — reads invoices, aged receivables/payables, contacts, and the P&L/balance sheet/trial balance reports. It's the bookkeeping source of truth for owners who use accounting software. - **Google Sheets** — reads the spreadsheet where many small businesses actually track income, expenses, and cash flow, for owners who don't run Xero. Same "organize my numbers" job, the other common source. ### Skills - **Doc Co-authoring** — structures the numbers and the owner's notes into a clean, organized handoff packet instead of a pile of exported rows. - **Internal Comms** — drafts the cover note that goes with the packet: what's included, what changed, and what's needed back from the owner, by when. ### CLI No CLI tool is included. The workflow is read the books, organize them, and hand them off — it does not need terminal-level execution. ## How to use it 1. Install the kit and connect Xero (if you use it) or Google Sheets (if your books live in a spreadsheet). 2. Ask *"what's our P&L for this quarter?"* or *"what invoices are still unpaid?"* and get the real numbers back. 3. Ask Doc Co-authoring to *"build a handoff packet for my accountant: income, expenses by category, unpaid invoices, and flag anything unusual."* 4. Add the context Doc Co-authoring can't infer on its own — what a large expense was for, which client is disputing an invoice — so the packet doesn't leave gaps. 5. Ask Internal Comms to *"draft the email to send with this packet, noting what changed since last quarter and what I still need to send."* ## Why these pieces belong together The kit is coherent because it follows one loop: **read the books → organize the numbers → hand them off with a clear note.** - Xero and Google Sheets are the two places small-business books actually live — one connector for accounting-software owners, one for spreadsheet owners. - Doc Co-authoring turns raw numbers into something an accountant can act on instead of a spreadsheet export. - Internal Comms closes the loop with the note that actually gets read before the attachment does. (This overlaps with the Business Owner Kit and the Docs & Team Comms Kit on the same two skills — the difference is the workflow: those kits are for client proposals and team announcements; this one is scoped to bookkeeping numbers and the accountant handoff.) It also overlaps with a Xero-based finance kit that reads the same books, so it's worth being precise about the difference: that kit writes a **monthly financial summary for the owner** (or a partner/investor) to read. This kit writes an **accountant handoff packet** for an outside professional at tax time or quarter-end — a different audience, a different artifact (organized packet + cover note vs. a summary memo), and it adds the Google Sheets connector for the very common owner who doesn't run Xero at all, which that kit explicitly leaves out of scope. Installed separately, the owner still exports reports by hand, reformats them into something readable, and writes the accompanying email from scratch every time. Installed together, it's one flow from "what are my numbers" to "sent to the accountant." ## Limits - It does not prepare or file tax returns, generate 1099s, calculate payroll tax withholding, or file any form with a tax authority — no catalog connector or skill does that today. Use dedicated tax/payroll software or the accountant for filing. - It does not give tax advice or interpret tax law — it organizes numbers and drafts the note around them; the accountant makes the tax calls. - Xero and Google Sheets each need their own account/connection, and the kit only sees what those accounts allow. - The handoff packet is only as complete as the books behind it — cash, checks, or a second processor that isn't in Xero or the spreadsheet stay invisible to the kit. - It does not send anything on its own — it drafts the packet and the note; the owner reviews and sends them.
